The VIKING COMPETITIONS

These are the competitions running consecutively. They are called:

The ‘VIKING CHAMPIONSHIP’

The ‘VIKING SHIELD ’

The ‘Viking Indy 500 Championship’

The ‘Viking Team 1000 Championship’

The ‘VIKING HALL OF FAME Shield’

Teams
There are three Viking teams called: Odin, Thor and Loki.

All Club members and visitors are assigned to one of the Viking teams. Teams members are assigned to each team by selection by the Team Principals before the first race of the year. The 3rd placed Team Principal choses a member from the entire list of club racers from the previous year. Then, the 2nd placed Team principal choses a member. This continues until all members are selected.

Team Principals/Captains
The Team Principals are assigned annually. The Principals are the drivers accumulating the most VIKING CHAMPIONSHIP points in the preceding year.
Team Principal’s objectives are to see that best practices of car preparation and racing techniques are encouraged in their teams.

How each competition works:

The ‘VIKING CHAMPIONSHIP’ is won by the driver who amasses the most points in the VIKING CHAMPIONSHIP races.

The top drivers become Team Principals for the following year.

The ‘VIKING SHIELD ’ is won by the driver who amasses the most points in the VIKING SHIELD races.

The ‘VIKING INDY 500 CHAMPIONSHIP’ is won by a driver’s (excluding Team Principals) best 500 scores from the VIKING CHAMPIONSHIP and VIKING SHIELD series. The top three drivers, excluding Team Principals, with the best scores from their best 500 races are the “VIKING INDY 500 CHAMPIONSHIP” winning top three drivers.

The ‘VIKING TEAM 1000 CHAMPIONSHIP’ is won by the team’s best 1000 scores from the VIKING CHAMPIONSHIP and VIKING SHIELD series.

The ‘VIKING HALL OF FAME Shield’ award will be made to the driver with the highest annual Championship placing. Annually, only one new name will qualify for induction to the VIKING HALL OF FAME based upon the highest scoring non-inductee. This means that every year a new name will appear on the HALL OF FAME giving all Club members recognition of their efforts.
